Purpose of Delta Sigma Pi

Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

The Founding

Delta Sigma Pi was founded in 1907 at New York University: School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance by Harold Valentine Jacobs, Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello and Henry Albert Tienken. Today, coast to coast, more than 250 chapters and nearly 200,000 members support the goals and ideals of the Fraternity.

Requirements

Candidates for membership in Delta Sigma Pi must receive an invitation to join from a local chapter, complete an orientation program, and demonstrate a willingness to perpetuate the ideals of the Fraternity. Members may be men and women of all creeds and colors engaged in the study of business or related fields.

Cross-membership in Greek social fraternities and sororities is permitted.

About Beta Kappa
Beta Kappa Chapter

The Beta Kappa chapter was chartered at the University of Texas at Austin in 1930, where it operated until mid 1995. In the spring of 1999, a group of highly motivated students created Beta Beta Beta in the hope of re-establishing a presence for Delta Sigma Pi at the University of Texas at Austin. On May 6, 2000, the Beta Kappa chapter was officially reactivated.

Professionalism
Delta Sigma Pi is primarily a professional fraternity. It is composed of elite professionals who are committed to sharpening their skills and developing their careers. We organize professional events throughout the year to allow brothers to explore different business arenas and to develop a network of leaders from the business community. Community Service
One of our major goals is to be of service to the community. We actively seek opportunities to volunteer our time towards improving the lives of others. Our activities include:

Social Activity
Brothers work hard and play hard. Beyond weekly social activities, we also organize many events that involve other chapters of Delta Sigma Pi, alumni brothers and other organizations on campus throughout the year. Some of our social events include:

Academics
It is important for brothers of Delta Sigma Pi to maintain strong work ethics, study habits and time management skills. The National Fraternity offers a number of scholarships, including the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key. This prominent award is given to the highest-ranking student of business administration at each school, regardless of whether he or she is a brother.
